Summary: | The study’s methodology was a research analysis of previous studies and books about how Groupthink has affected politics. Irving utilized the studies and books from Arthur M. Schlesinger’s A Thousand Days, historical documentation on the Bay of Pigs, observer’s accounts of the conversations, and participant’s memoirs (Irving, 1973). In the study, Valine explored the power and risk of Groupthink by examining two cases (London Whale and Sales Practices) at JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. Through specific examples, the paper demonstrates that what happened at these organizations can happen in any company. While Irving’s analysis focused more on the studies of groupthink from a political and militaristic perspective, the study conducted by Valine utilized the cases of London Whale and Sales Practices at JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo which focused more on a business groupthink environment. |
